Edinburgh Airport is eight miles west of the city centre. It can be reached from the A8 Glasgow Road, close to the M8 and M9. If you're arriving from Edinburgh, join the A8 from the city bypass and head towards Glasgow. 

If you're coming from the north or west, join the A8 at the Newbridge roundabout. Then head towards Edinburgh and follow signs for the airport. 

The A8 airport junction is between the Gogar and Newbridge roundabouts.

When to Arrive at Edinburgh Airport 
Your airline will be able to clarify a specific check-in time for your flight, but a general guideline is: 

Long-haul flights - check in at least three hours prior to departure 
European flights - check in at least two hours prior to departure 
UK and Ireland flights - check in at least two hours prior to departure 
Charter flights - check in at least three hours prior to departure 

Check-in opens from two hours prior to departure; however, the following desk open times apply. Bear in mind that traffic can have an effect on how quickly you get to the airport. Please also check with your airline on your specific arrival time. 

Checking In at Edinburgh Airport 
Edinburgh Airport has one terminal, so finding where to check in is simple. You can check-in online with some airlines and print your boarding pass before arrival. You must check-in online if you're flying with Ryanair or easyJet.

There are a couple of ways to check-in at Edinburgh Airport based on your airline and preference. 

Check-in Desks 
Edinburgh Airport's check-in area is located on the ground floor of the terminal. Locate your flight number on the terminal screens to find your check-in desk, and bear in mind that check-in zones A to K are signposted by illuminated yellow cubes. 

Online Check-In 
Many airlines now allow you to check-in via their website and print your boarding card for a quick and convenient experience. Check with your airline to see if this is offered.  

You're able to check-in using your phone if you're flying with several airlines including Air France, easyJet, Ryanair and KLM. 

Check-in opens two hours before departure:
Check-in opens two hours before departure for some airlines that are offering short-haul flights. If you are unsure of when your check-in desk opens, consult your airline before travelling to Edinburgh Airport. 

Check-in opens 2.5 hours before departure:
Some other airlines have longer check-in times due to several departures occurring at the same time. Larger budget airlines utilise this, including easyJet, Flybe and Ryanair. Some procedures change regularly so we recommend contacting your airline prior to flying. 

Check-in opens three hours before departure:
If using an international airline and you are travelling on a long-haul flight. It is recommended you arrive to Edinburgh Airport 3 hours before departure.
