Directions to Liverpool Airport by Car 
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is conveniently located close to key North West networks such as the M57, M62 and M56. It is also not far from the A1, M6 or M1 which enable passengers in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, the Midlands and the northeast to access the airport. 

Please note that are a number of different routes to Liverpool John Lennon Airport, some of which are tolled. 

From the north/north-east 
Head south on the M6 until you reach junction 21A, where you'll merge onto the M62 heading west. Continue on the M62 until junction 6, then take the second exit at the roundabout to join the A5300 (Knowsley Expressway). At the end of the Knowsley Expressway, turn right at the roundabout and merge onto the A561 (Speke Boulevard). Follow the A561 until you reach the junction with Speke Hall Avenue, then turn left, following the signs to the airport. This route is toll-free. 

From the south/east 
Drivers have two route options. The first is to take the M6, exit at junction 21A, and follow the directions as if coming from the North/North East. This route does not include any tolls. 

Alternatively, drivers can exit the M6 at junction 20, merge onto the M56, and leave at junction 12, following signs for Liverpool Airport. This route crosses the Mersey Gateway Bridge. Continue along the A561 until you reach the junction with Speke Hall Avenue, then turn left, following signs to the airport. 

Please be aware that the Mersey Gateway Bridge is a toll crossing. It uses automatic number plate recognition, with no physical toll barriers. Payments must be made online, either in advance or shortly after using the bridge. For more information, visit merseyflow.co.uk. This route offers quick and reliable access to South Liverpool and the airport. 

From The Wirral/North Wales 
For passengers travelling from Wirral, it may be more convenient during peak times to take the M53, then join the M56 and exit at junction 12, following the route over the Mersey Gateway Bridge as described in the directions for travelling from the South/East. 

Passengers coming from North Wales should take the A55 to connect with the eastbound M56, then follow the instructions provided for travellers coming from the East.

Checking In at Liverpool Airport 
Twilight check-in at Liverpool Airport is now available, enabling passengers to turn up at the airport the night before and check in their hold luggage. The following day, just head straight for Security and relax in Departures before you jet off. 

If you’re interested in using this service, you can use the Drop-off car park where you’ll get 1 hour of complimentary parking. If you exceed the hour, you will be charged at the airport’s standard tariff rate. 

When to arrive at Liverpool Airport 
The airport recommends that all passengers should arrive at least 2 hours prior to departure time. 

How to check-in at Liverpool Airport 
Most airlines will allow you to check-in for your flight online, contact them directly for further information on this. If you have checked in online and are travelling with hand luggage only, you can head straight to Security. If you have bags to check into the hold, you will need to head to the bag-drop desks in the check-in area. 

If you require a physical boarding pass, head to the information desk where you’ll find printing facilities. There is a charge for using this service.
